Stairs & Railings

From carpet-to-hardwood staircase makeovers to new deck stairs, built to code and finished clean.

In short

Real Elite Contracting remodels interior staircases and builds exterior stairs across the WV–MD–VA region: carpet-to-hardwood treads, new risers, wood or iron balusters, handrails and newel posts, and deck and porch stairs built to code.

The staircase is often the first thing people see when they walk in. Swapping carpet for hardwood treads, painting the risers, and replacing spindles with wood or iron balusters changes the whole entry without touching a wall.

Outside, stairs take the most wear of anything on a deck or porch. We build them with consistent rise and run, solid stringers, graspable handrails, and guards where the drop calls for them. Changing a stair's structure or layout needs a building permit; replacing treads and balusters on a sound stair usually does not, and we confirm which applies before work starts.

Frequently asked

Yes. We remove the carpet, replace or cap the treads with hardwood, and paint or stain the risers. Most homes keep the existing stringers, so the stair layout does not change.
